MERIDIAN RESOURCE COMPANY, LLC AWARDED $35.5 MILLION

DEFENSE DEPARTMENT CONTRACT

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Meridian Resource Company, LLC was recently awarded the TRICARE Claims Review Services contract for TRICARE Management Activity (TMA). TMA is the Defense Department activity that administers the health care plan for 9.4 million members of the uniformed services, retirees and their families worldwide. The purpose of this contract is to assist the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense Health Affairs TMA, Uniformed Services, and the TRICARE Regional Offices by providing an independent, impartial audit of reimbursement determinations and claims processing services. Meridian Resource Company, LLC will audit and report on claims processing procedures, reimbursement methodologies, and payment record coding procedures utilized by the TRICARE Managed Care Support, Dual Eligible Fiscal Intermediary, Pharmacy, Overseas, and Active Duty Dental Program contractors, to determine contractor compliance with TRICARE directives.  The contract, effective October 21, 2009, is valued at $35.5 million for a 10 month transition phase in period and five one-year option periods. 

Under the contract, Meridian Resource Company, LLC will utilize its experienced staff and cost-effective auditing program to review already processed claims for coding and payment accuracy.  Meridian will be responsible for auditing approximately 55,900 TRICARE claims in Option Period 1 increasing to 79,600 in Option Period 5.
